Moving here is its own skill
- Historic District & downtown: narrow stairwells, street-parking permits, plaster walls, and heart-pine floors that deserve real protection.
- The islands: Tybee, Wilmington, and Skidaway moves mean bridge timing, sandy driveways, and beach-house stairs.
- SCAD students & families: dorm and apartment moves timed to the academic calendar — we move students every quarter turn.
- Fort Stewart & Hunter AAF: PCS moves on orders timelines — see military moving.
How much do Savannah movers cost?
Local moves are hourly, by crew size — what changes the price is how much you own, stairs, and drive time between homes. You'll hear the real structure on the first phone call, not after. The full table of typical times and costs is just below.

Move of the Month · November & December
A chance to win $1,000 off your move
Every move we complete in November or December goes into that month’s drawing — homes and offices, big loads and small ones. At the end of the month we draw one name at random, and that customer gets $1,000 off their move. If their move comes to less than $1,000, the whole move is free.
One winner in November. One winner in December. Everyone else pays exactly what we quoted them, the way it has always worked here.

Straight answers about moving in Savannah
How far in advance should I book Savannah movers?
Two weeks is comfortable for most moves. Book earlier for end-of-month dates, summer weekends, and SCAD move-in and move-out weeks, when half the city seems to be carrying a mattress. And know the calendar quirk locals know: around St. Patrick's Day, downtown closures and crowds make Historic District moves genuinely difficult — if your lease turns over that week, call us early and we'll plan around it.
Can a moving truck even park in the Historic District?
Usually, with planning. Plenty of downtown blocks have metered or restricted parking, and some streets around the squares are too tight for a 26-foot box truck to turn. This is exactly the local knowledge you're hiring: we plan truck placement with you before move day, and when a street won't take the big truck, we stage a smaller shuttle or start early before parking fills. What you don't want is a crew discovering this at 9am on your move day.
What makes Savannah moves harder than other cities?
Three things. Vertical houses — four-story walk-ups on Jones Street with staircases built before furniture had this much particle board. Heat — from May through September, smart moves start at 8am, and we pad extra time for hydration breaks because a rushed, exhausted crew is how furniture gets dropped. And bridges — island moves to Tybee or Skidaway run on causeway timing, and beach-house stairs add real carrying time. None of it is a problem; all of it belongs in the quote from the start.
Where do people moving to Savannah actually land?
Families heading for yards and schools mostly land in Pooler, Richmond Hill, and Rincon. Buyers who want porches and live oaks look at Ardsley Park and Gordonston. Renters and students cluster in the Starland District and Thomas Square. We've written a moving guide for nearly every neighborhood in the metro — they're all on the blog, and we've moved people into every one of them.
