What makes a senior move different
Most moves are about logistics. A senior move is about a person leaving a home they may have lived in for forty years — often heading somewhere smaller, sometimes on a timeline set by health rather than choice. The crew's job is still furniture and boxes, but the pace, the communication, and the patience have to be different, and we staff these moves with that in mind.
We work with the customer directly, with adult children coordinating from out of town, and with retirement community move-in offices — whoever is running point, we keep them informed.
Downsizing help that actually helps
- Sorting support: we're not estate appraisers, but we'll stage the house into keep / family / donate / discard piles and move each to where it goes.
- The keep load: packed, padded, and set up in the new home — furniture placed, bed made available the first night, boxes in the right rooms.
- Family shipments: pieces going to children or relatives can ride along or be delivered separately — see long-distance moving for out-of-state pieces.
- The rest: donation runs and junk removal so the old house is actually empty, not almost empty.
Where donations go
Donated pieces go where they do real good: in Savannah, that means stops like Goodwill Southeast Georgia and the Habitat for Humanity ReStore; in Statesboro, Habitat for Humanity of Bulloch County; in Brunswick, the Glynn County Habitat ReStore and The Salvation Army; and in Columbus, Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers and Valley Rescue Mission.
Retirement communities we move into
Assisted living and retirement communities have move-in rules — reserved elevators, loading windows, protective requirements for corridors. From The Marshes of Skidaway Island and Savannah Commons on the coast to the Magnolia Manor communities across south Georgia, we handle the coordination with the community's office so move-in day doesn't start with a rules surprise.
How senior moves are priced
Same honest hourly structure as any local move — no "senior package" markup. What we do differently is planning: a slower, more thorough walk-through up front so the day itself has no surprises — plus a 5% senior discount on the labor.
