You rented the truck, or the container's already in the driveway, or everything is sitting in a storage unit off Abercorn. What you need isn't a moving company — it's trained hands for a few hours. That's this.
It's billed hourly per crew member, usually with a two-hour minimum, and there's no truck fee because there's no truck. Most container loads are a two-person job; tell us what's going in and we'll size the crew honestly rather than sending more people than the work needs.
Where is that container actually going to sit?
This is the Savannah question, and it catches people out constantly. If your container or trailer is going on your own driveway, fine. If it's going on the street, the city requires a permit.
Savannah's Dumpster/Container Permit has to be approved by the Traffic Engineering Division before a container, trailer, or similar goes on public right-of-way. As the city lists it, that's a $20 application fee plus a daily rate per equivalent parking space — Sundays and holidays excluded. Apply well ahead of your drop date, and confirm the current fees and turnaround with the city at 912-651-6600, because those details do change.
Downtown this matters more than anywhere. On a Historic District block there may be no driveway at all, which means the container is going in a parking space or it isn't going anywhere. Sort that out before the container company schedules a drop, not the morning it arrives.
The walk-up math
Here's the pattern we see most. Someone rents a truck to save money on a move across town, and then remembers the new place is a third-floor walk-up off Jones Street with a staircase that turns twice. Suddenly the plan depends on two friends who are less enthusiastic than they were a week ago.
Labor-only is how that plan survives. We'll do the stairs — that's the part that's genuinely hard and the part where furniture and plaster walls get damaged when it's done wrong. You keep the savings on the truck and skip the part that would have taken all day.
Loading is a skill, not just lifting
A properly loaded truck fits more, shifts less, and opens at the other end with everything still where you left it. Weight low and forward, heavy pieces tied off, tiers built so nothing has room to travel. If you've ever opened a rental truck after two hundred miles and watched a bookcase come out sideways, that's what you're paying to avoid.
It matters even more on a long haul, which is why load-only jobs headed out of state are some of our most common labor bookings.

Quarter turns, storage units, and the islands
- SCAD moves — a parent with a rental truck and a student changing apartments between quarters; we load, unload, or both
- Storage units — loading in or out, including facilities with their own access hours and elevator rules
- Tybee, Wilmington, and Skidaway — beach houses on pilings mean an exterior staircase and a long carry, which is exactly when hired muscle pays for itself
- Inside the house — a safe moved downstairs, an appliance swapped, furniture rearranged, a room restaged before listing

What we bring and what stays with you
Crews arrive with dollies, straps, and tools. Furniture pads for the inside of a rental truck are yours to rent or buy, since they belong with the truck rather than with us — you can pick those up along with boxes from our moving supplies.
