Move the office, keep the week
Columbus is a bigger business town than its size suggests — insurance and payments companies with real headquarters here, a hospital district, a university, and an enormous post next door that supports a whole economy of its own. What those have in common is that none of them can afford to be offline on a Tuesday.
So the first thing we do is walk your space. A real site visit means the quote reflects the elevator, the loading window, the certificate of insurance your building manager wants, and the actual carry from door to truck — not a desk count and a hopeful number.
The weekend playbook
The expensive part of an office move isn't the furniture, it's the hours your team can't work. We build the move backwards from the moment you need to be operational: what goes Friday evening, what's staged over the weekend, and what's on every desk before people badge in Monday. We'll have a crew member on hand that first morning to shift whatever needs shifting.
Offices that work with Fort Benning
A large share of Columbus businesses exist because the post does — contractors, staffing firms, training and logistics outfits, and the professional services around them. Some of those offices sit on the installation, and moving into or out of one means our crew has to clear the gate.
That's arranged in advance rather than discovered at 8am with a loaded truck at the visitor center. Tell us the location when you book and we'll handle the coordination — it's the same process we run constantly for PCS moves at Benning, just with a business on the other end of it.
When the office changes states
Moving from Columbus to Phenix City is a ten-minute drive that happens to relocate your business into Alabama. The physical move is straightforward and priced like any local office move — see local moving in Columbus for how that works.
What isn't our department is the rest of it: your registered address, your licensing, and anything your accountant or attorney has opinions about. Worth raising with them early, because it takes longer than the move does. We'll handle the furniture; just don't let the paperwork be the thing that surprises you.
Uptown lofts and the buildings with rules
The converted mill buildings along the river hold offices as well as apartments, and they move like the historic buildings they are. Freight elevators get reserved, loading zones come with time windows, and a corridor carry in those buildings is measured in blocks rather than feet. Tell us the building when you book — most of them we've been into, and the requirements go into the plan instead of surfacing on the day.
The medical district
Practices moving around the MidTown medical district and the hospitals have their own constraints — a patient calendar that can't simply pause, equipment that needs careful handling, and a waiting room that has to look finished on day one. Those get planned around your appointment schedule, not ours.
Firms with file rooms
Law offices, accounting firms, title companies, and insurance agencies all share the same headache: the records. Boxed and labeled in order, delivered in order, and put back in a way that doesn't cost your staff a month of re-filing. It's tedious work and it's the part we take the most care with, because a file room in the wrong sequence is a bill you pay in payroll for weeks.
What we move
- Desks, workstations, conference rooms, break rooms, and reception
- File rooms and records — boxed, labeled, and delivered in sequence
- Retail fixtures and inventory
- Medical and specialty office equipment
- IT — monitors, towers, and peripherals packed and labeled by desk; your IT vendor handles servers and network cutover and we coordinate around them
Certificates of insurance
Most managed buildings want a COI naming the property manager before anyone touches the dock or the elevator. Send us the requirements when you book and we'll have it issued ahead of move day — it's routine paperwork that stops a surprising number of moves at the door when it's left to the last minute.
What an office move costs
Small offices price like local moves — hourly, by crew size. Larger relocations get a flat project quote after the site visit, with after-hours and weekend labor included in the number. Either way you have it in writing before anything is scheduled.
