Leaving the valley? Take your crew with you

People leave Columbus for three reasons, mostly. Orders send them to another post. A career sends them to Atlanta. Or family pulls them somewhere across Alabama or down to the coast. All three are moves we make constantly, and none of them should require handing your whole household to a company that has never met you.

Long-distance works differently from a local move. It's quoted as one flat price before move day rather than billed by the hour — based on what you own, the distance, and what access looks like at both ends. You know the number before anything gets loaded, and it doesn't move afterward.

One crew, door to door

This is the part worth understanding, because it's where most long-distance moves go wrong. A national van line typically consolidates your things with other shipments, moves them between trucks and warehouses, and gives you a delivery window — a spread of days, sometimes weeks, when your furniture might show up.

We don't do that. The crew that loads you in Columbus is the crew that unloads you, and your things stay on one truck the whole way. Nothing gets consolidated, nothing sits in a warehouse. That's why we can give you a delivery date. If you're arriving somewhere with a report date, a lease start, or a first day of school, that difference is the entire ballgame.

The runs we make most

  • PCS to another post — Fort Stewart and Fort Gordon in state, Fort Rucker just down into Alabama, and the longer hauls to Fort Bragg, Fort Campbell, Fort Jackson, Fort Knox, Fort Hood, and out west
  • Atlanta — the most common career move out of Columbus, and close enough to load and deliver the same day
  • Across Alabama — Auburn, Opelika, Montgomery, Birmingham, Dothan; Columbus sits closer to most of these than to Atlanta
  • The Florida panhandle — Panama City, Destin, and the beach towns
  • Anywhere else in the lower 48 — the Carolinas, Texas, the Midwest; distance changes the price, not the plan

Across Georgia

Atlanta gets most of the attention, but Columbus moves run all over the state — Macon, Augusta, and the long one down to Savannah and the coast. In-state moves are usually a single day: loaded in the morning, unloaded that afternoon, the same crew start to finish. They also tend to price better than people expect, so it's worth asking when you call rather than assuming a cross-state move has to be a production.

The awkward middle distance

Some moves are genuinely in between. Fort Rucker is about ninety miles. Auburn is half an hour. Atlanta is a bit over a hundred. These are too far to sensibly bill by the hour and too short for a national carrier to take seriously — they'll quote it like a cross-country job or schedule it whenever a truck happens to be passing.

That middle distance is our sweet spot. Most of these load in the morning and unload the same afternoon, one crew start to finish, quoted flat. If your move falls in that range, it's worth a call before you assume it has to be complicated.

If you're PCSing out

Orders moves are most of our long-distance work, and they come with their own paperwork. If you've elected a personally procured move we provide itemized invoices, receipts, and support for certified weigh-ins — the details are on our Fort Benning military moving page. The 5% military discount applies here too, active duty or veteran, any branch.

When to book

Three to four weeks is comfortable, and more in summer. May through August is PCS season around Benning, when a large share of the valley moves in the same window — long-distance dates are the first to go, because they take a truck and a crew off the board for more than a day. Call earlier than feels necessary and you'll get the date you want.

What's included

  • Disassembly and reassembly of beds, tables, and whatever has to come apart
  • Moving pads and blankets on your furniture for the whole ride
  • Floor runners and door protection at both ends
  • Loading, transport, and placement where you want it in the new place

Want the boxes handled too? Add packing services — on a long haul it's the difference between arriving to a house and arriving to a project.

Long-distance questions, answered straight

How is a long-distance move priced?

One flat price, quoted before move day — from what you own, the distance, and access at both ends. Not hourly, and it doesn't change afterward.

Will my things be transferred to another truck?

No. One truck, one crew, door to door. That's what lets us give you a delivery date rather than a window.

How far do you go?

Anywhere in the lower 48. Distance changes the price, not the plan.

Do you handle PCS paperwork?

Yes — itemized invoices, receipts, and certified weigh-in support for personally procured moves, plus 5% off for active duty and veterans.

Headed out of the valley?

Tell us where you're going and we'll put a flat number in writing.
